Daniel DiTondo was a teacher and artist. He grew up in Buffalo, New York, but taught fifth grade at John F. Cook elementary school in Washington DC, through the Teach for America program. When Dan was 27, he was diagnosed with cancer, and after a year-long battle with the disease, he died at age 28.
Dan’s mom and friends worked to create a foundation that would honor his life and work. The in-school art programs, summer art camps and college scholarship program the foundation has created, endeavor to continue Dan’s work in the world and keep his generous spirit alive.
